Basic Info

Dossier

Wild: Melanocetus Anglerpescum is viewed as the biggest form of Anglerfish that ever existed. You can normally come across it among the deepest and darkest areas of the ocean. It always aims at smaller fish or other weak aquatic creatures, and also, it’s considered as a nice source of food for other bigger predators.

Domesticated: It’s not easy to discover the deep ocean because of some insufficient stuff like warm, air, and light. An Anglerfish that is already domesticated is able to utilize the natural light at its stalks to light up the depths, which makes the discovery more secure and advantageous. Plus, the luminescent nodules can be collected for forming lasting organic light emplacement for shelters above water.

Known Information: There is a range of bioluminescent light pods that you will see at the end of its stalks. Just similar to other Anglerfish, this one will basically utilize these luminescent nodules to lure the tiny prey for absorbing. The smaller fish will be enticed and they will naturally get closer to Melanocetus.

Behavior

The Angler will assault and hit any survivor or domesticated dinosaurs. They will try to run away from the battle if they get hurt, however, they will surely turn around and assault the prey once against after escaping for a bit.

Appearance

The Angler is not a common Anglerfish. It has the same size as Ichthyosaur and it’s kind of strong, which is completely different from its weak relatives. The males and females are mostly the same, which is discrepant from other fish of the kind of Melanocetus. On its head, you will see some bioluminescence nodules and a big mouth that is full of pointed teeth. This creature is known as a fish that lives in the deep sea, but sometimes, it spawns into shallower water locations at night in order to hunt for small fish and various seabirds.

Color Scheme and Regions

In this part, you will check out the natural colors and areas of Angler. The following areas are painted in red on a white Angler. The painted squares displayed below every region’s description are the colors that this creature will generate at random for giving a general scope of its natural color scheme. For showing its name and ID, just move your mouse cursor on a color.

This region info can be utilized by the server admins in the Console Command, like this “cheat SetTargetDinoColor ”.

For instance, utilizing “cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6” would help paint the body magenta of Angler.

Wild Stats Level-up

To check out what stats it is stressed, you must input the values of that untamed creature. The green values of a high-level one will indicate that it is very great at breeding. If you got your own tamed creature, you could regain the breeding-stats by utilizing the offline tool called ARK Stats Extractor.

Angler

Remember that after being domesticated, the creature will receive bonuses on several stats which bases on the taming effectiveness. This will cause it to be very tough to take back the levels on a domesticated one. Therefore, you should only use this tool for the untamed ones.

Don’t forget to check out an external taming calculator.

KO Strategy

The Angler inhabits in deep water, so if you want to defeat it, you should use a crossbow. It doesn’t have high health, while its torpor is very high. That’s why you can kill it very easily. But be careful, it can give out a reasonable amount of damage. If you put a full scuba gear on, you won’t get destroyed easily.

When you deal an amount of damage to them, they will try to go and swim away. If you want to chase them, you should stay alert to their sudden attack because they may turn around and kill you.

It will be much better if you take a hard underwater mount with you, like a plesiosaur, for instance, then you can make it passive.

Combat

General

You should think about the primary environment that this creature inhabits, it’s underwater! These waters are guarded by other creatures, so the battle between you and Angler is hard a bit. Some other creatures that are usually caught sight of here are Megalodons, Ichthyosaurus, Mosasaurs, Plesiosaurs, and so on. If you don’t pay attention to the surroundings, you may bump into one of those said creatures.

To avoid the tragic results, the player is highly recommended to put a full set of Scuba gear on when they are about to go in the water. The scuba gear will stop them from getting drowned, and they will be completely safe even though there are plenty of creatures around them. Also, you should take a crossbow and use it to launch your attack to the target. Using a pike or a sword can be fine enough to destroy a slower target, like the Angler, or protect yourself.

Strategy

Normally, you will be attacked by the Angler! If that happens, you should utilize your mount when it is strong enough and able to deal damage. Also, your mouse should be able to do a turning circle quickly so that you can battle against the nimbleness of the Angler. If you don’t have enough mount, you can start using your weapons. A crossbow will help you a lot in taming this creature from afar.

Weaponry

The player is highly recommended to utilize a crossbow, a pike or a sword. A strong mount is also able to launch an attack to the Anglers.

Dangers

You should stay watchful when you go behind this creature as it is able to turn around and deal its attack. Make sure you are aware of other creatures as well.

Weakness

Don’t get closer to it as it can turn around suddenly and launch attack to you. But you can still dodge its small hit box.

Utility

You can totally ride the Angler without using any saddle. This makes it a fair mount for maritime players that don’t have many resources.

Roles

Mount for discovering deep sea: The Angler is very good at discovering the deep sea due to its light. Level up Melee Damage, and Health to battle against other strong animals in the depths. Or you can level up Movement Speed and Stamina if you are about to run away from them or dodge them.

Angler Gel Hunter: Other Angler fish are attracted by the light on the angler, which is a nice way to gather the angler gel (Raise Melee Damage and Health)

Notes/Trivia

The creature was launched on 21st September 2015 by Jat

The kind Melanocetus of the Angler is a present-day kind which is normally viewed as the black seadevil.

The male angler is not as big as the female on in real life. Also, the male ones usually stick to the female ones, making a parasitic couple of gonads. Because of the shadows of the deep sea, this way is used, which is so tough to search for a mate.
