\Here comes a new creature in ARK Survival Evolved! Let’s say hi to Diplodocus that is a big friendly dinosaur that you will meet. You can find out everything about this creature, including its basic info, combat, strategy, taming and so on.

Basic Info

Dossier

Wild: Although it’s considered as a bigger creature living on the island, its size is still tiny, so it’s also known as a smaller sauropod in the game. Diplodocus increased its speed and larger endurance rather than its size and IQ. When it’s completely grown up, its height is only roughly two-thirds size of the giant Brontosaurus.

Domesticated: Because Diplodocus doesn’t have a bigger frame, it is not able to assist the sort of platform saddle. However, some tribes utilize a saddle and equip it on Diplodocus, which will permit the creature to bring 10 extra riders. The passengers normally utilize ranged weapons for defending Diplodocus or they can use to assault adversaries during their trip.

Known Information: Diplodocus is a boneheaded and reliable creature living on the island. Normally, it won’t escape away from the deadly predators until it has been assaulted many times by them. That’s when it will fight back for its survival. This creature also trusts in human beings a lot for some reason, seemingly, it doesn’t even want to battle against them.

Behavior

Diplodocus is an amiable and playful creature. It usually utilizes its adorable manner to nuzzle other animals. The nuzzle doesn’t bring any harm or damage, but it has some knockback and it’s able to beat your off a ridge.  But, when being domesticated, it is able to deal damage to other opponents and even the buildings.

Appearance

Diplodocus bears resemblances to its kin, Brontosaurus. However, it still holds several differences. This creature has a long tail as well as a low-slung body as opposed to the head and a bigger body of Brontosaurus. Its head is very small, along with some sharp teeth that stick out to tear off the plants for eating. Its back, shoulders, and hips are filled with tiny spikes.

Color Scheme and Regions

In this section, you can find out the natural colors and regions of Diplodocus. Some regions as shown below are painted in red on a white Diplodocus. The painted squares below every region’s description are the colors which this creature will generate at random for giving out a general scope of its congenital color scheme. To show its name and ID, just move your mouse cursor over a color.

Color scheme info is straightly extracted from the ARK DevKit and it should be seen as accurate.

The server admins are able to utilize this info in the console command like this “cheat SetTargetDinoColor ”

For instance, using “cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6” would help paint the sides, legs, and accents magenta of Diplodocus.

Wild Stats Level-up

Just simply input the values of an untamed dinosaur to check out the stats that it’s stressed. The green values on a creature that is at a high level are extremely great to breed. If you’re done taming your dinosaur, you can regain the breeding-stats using the tool called “ARK Stats Extractor”

Remember, after being domesticated, the creature will get more bonuses on several stats based on the successfulness of domestication. This will cause it to be very difficult to take back the levels on a domesticated dinosaur. Hence, this tool is only applied for the untamed ones.

Knock-out Domestication

Passive Tame

Remember, although there is data for domestication with vegetables given by the DevKit, the Diplodocus still doesn’t take these as the food for the passive domestication.

The survivors can totally domesticate the Diplodocus using a knockout method or even passive way. If you are drawing its attention, it will make an effort to keep you away and you won’t be able to give out straight damage.

For passive taming, you don’t have to be careful much! Diplodocus just simply wants to act amiable and friendly by nuzzling the player. All you need to worry about is using the knockback that can give out fall damage. If your domestication takes place near the rough terrain, you probably should stay watchful when getting closer, which will make it leave you unattended. If you stand nearby the front legs of this creature or below the belly, you will be able to keep yourself out of its nudging scope. But, surely you will have a blast with Diplodocus by permitting it to make you bounce because your taming successfulness won’t be affected by that action as long as you don’t attack it. Be sure that you can approach it several times for feeding the creature once again.

If you don’t want to be bounced by it much, you can try utilizing a Ghillie Suit in order to reduce the possibility of it observing you. Try to stay in the location where it won’t be able to attack you, like at the back of it or right below it.

Also, you can utilize a grappling hood for casing the knockback from afar.

Combat

Diplodocus is not a great and ideal mount for one or tiny tribes. It won’t deal any damage but it is able to launch a big amount of knockback. If you want to utilize this creature as a companion or something like that, you must be sure that you have to equip it with strong players sitting on the saddle or get an escort for it. If there are plenty of people on one side of many seats, with various shotguns on, these features will turn this creature into a dangerous mount. The big tribes can use it as a great anti air mount. If the players on this Dinosaur have many guns, it will be able to kill the flyers. A Quetzal is not able to pick it up because of its large size.  When riding this creature, and you’re under attack, you must utilize the knockback method to beat the assaulter and perform a U turn then run away. If this dinosaur doesn’t get any escort or strong players on it, it can become the worst mount in the combat ever.

General

You can destroy and kill it if you want! This creature is able to assault you, but it won’t give out any damage, just only some defense. The knockback is kind of uncomfortable unless you don’t stay watchful and get closer to it

Strategy

You can try to make it hurt without being thrust back from it. It deals no damage, but if you are being pushed off the wrong location, you could fall down and get destroyed.

Weaponry

You can utilize each ranged weapon and any dinosaurs for destroying Diplodocus.

Dangers

You can be pushed off a wrong place, like a cliff or a dangerous mountainside, or even launched into a location filled with deadly creatures.

Weakness

It doesn’t deal any damage to the dinosaurs, it only throws and pushes a certain creature off a ridge.

Utility

Roles

Transport: With the saddle on Diplodocus, it is able to carry 10 people and 1 driver. Due to this trait, it can become the perfect and ideal mount for transportation. (Level up the speed and stamina)

Land Battle Ship: Since it can carry up to 10 powerful survivors, it will become a great mount in the PvP combat if those people are equipped with fire weapons.

Notes/Trivia

The dossier was launched on 10/26/15

The meaning of its specific name is “Island Chieftain”

Different from what the Dossier has claimed, the real Brontosaurus was not as long as the real Diplodocus.

Diplodocus can give out a great source of Prime Meat at the early stage of the game. Because it doesn’t deal any damage and it’s easily destroyed by other surrounding things.

Diplodocus is one of the easy untamed creatures for taking eggs from next to Dodos that never become hostile.

Raft or Platform Saddle can’t transport the Diplodocus. Therefore, you are suggested to domesticate them nearby the location that you need them, like on the Center.

Having three seats on the saddle of this creature was the initial intention, but then, it was switched to the saddle of Gallimimus.
