The Mammoth (or also known as Wooly Mammoth) is a mammal that turns up in ARK Survival Evolved. These creatures are very big and comparatively slow but it’s considered as the strong animal living in the chill locations of the island. Mammoth is able to gather wood, let’s research on it now!
Basic Info
Dossier
Wild: It’s still kind of odd when noticing the preferences of Mammuthus steincaput next to dinosaurs
Domesticated: Mammuthus steincaput is a very tough animal to tame. They are kind of innately hard-headed and it’s more likely endless when taking one out to start the taming process. But after being domesticated, the Mammoths are one of the animals can root out the trees without smashing them.
Known Information: This huge creature outgrows most of all creatures living on the island and seemingly, it isn’t scared of anything except Tyrannosaurus. The Mammoths mostly grow in chiller zones and they have the flock mentality. It’s not sure how the flocks of these creatures find that the plant life is kind of sufficient for them to eat on several islands mountains. They should spend more time traversing the cold peak of mountains and other rich bases, or perhaps, the flock of Mammoths can be the principal reason that the mountain tops are so infertile.
Behavior
Mammoths are always coming out with flocks. This means that if one of them gets assaulted, other Mammoths that are close by will also start assaulting things or any person that is trying to attack them. If you accidentally get attacked by one, and you don’t feel like battling, just start running away from them, they will finish going behind you after a couple of seconds.
Appearance
The Mammoth is very big and this is a furry mammal that you can catch sight of them roaming around the zones or any bases of the mountains. Besides the skull, it also has hair cap which looks like a crown. There are several thin and horizontal stripes on its thick pelt. Similar to other elephants, it has a stocky tail and a long torso for a nose. Its typical tusks develop in the same way as African elephants. However, different from current living elephants, the tusks broaden close the base, the second branches are turned upwards in a curly way. Thorns appear on several fragments and some of them also turn up below the branching location.
Color Scheme and Regions
This part illustrates the natural color and regions of Mammoth. To get indicative purposes, the below areas are painted red on an albino Mammoth. The painted squares that are displayed below every illustration of the area are the colors that the creature will spawn randomly in order to bring a general scope of its innate color scheme. For illustrating its name and ID, just move your mouse cursor on a color.
The color scheme detail is extracted straightly from the ARK DevKit. It should be considered as accuracy.
This information about region can be utilized in the console command Command “cheat SetTargetDinoColor “.
For instance, the fur mane magenta of the Mammoth can be colored by using this command “cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6”

- The percentages are based upon the stat value the moment that the creature was domesticated (right after taming success)
- The absolute Base Damage is displayed here rather than the percentage
- The movement speed of wild creatures won’t be developed
- The Torpor develops every single level on the untamed creatures, but won’t be developed after they are domesticated.

Wild Stats Level-up
To check out the stats that are pinpointed, just input the values of an untamed creature. The green values on a creature that has a high level mean that it’s very great at breeding. If you succeeded in domesticating a creature, you could regain the breeding-stats by utilizing this tool called ARK Stats Extractor
Stat | Value | Levelups |
---|---|---|
Health | 850 | 0 |
Stamina | 330 | 0 |
Food | 150 | 0 |
Food | 5000 | 0 |
Weight | 500 | 0 |
Melee Damage [%] | 100 | 0 |
Speed [%] | 100 | 0 |
After domestication, the creature can get some bonuses on several stats relying on the taming success. This will cause it to be very tough for regaining the levels on a domesticated creature. Hence, this tool can only work on untamed creatures, but it can bring such a wonderful impression, how well the stats are given out.

Ingredients for Kibble (Raptor Egg): 1 × Raptor Egg , 1 × Longrass , 1 × Cooked Meat Jerky , 2 × Mejoberry , 3 × Fiber , 1 × Waterskin
KO Strategy
You can clear it out like you did to other things because they are comparatively slow.
Kite it like anything else, they’re relatively slow. Be careful whenever domesticating a Mammoth because the zone that that usually start is normally filled with creatures that always want to annihilate you and your life may be depleted or your stamina runs out because of low temperatures, especially the snow biome. If you can’t defend yourself against the severe weather, you probably want to get them out of the cold areas and lure them into the cozier zones, like the jungles.

Notes/Trivia
Seemingly, the name “steincaput” is a compound term consisting of the German word “stein” and it means “stone”, along with the Latin word “caput” and it means “head”.
It’s really necessary to have a Behemoth Gateway for Mammoths. They can move through blank space of three broad bases but two of them will be very small.
