Are you ready to check out another great creature in ARK Survival Evolved called Procoptodon? This is an amazing marsupial beast that is able to carry people and stuff. You can try to tame it and use it for many purposes. Let’s take a look at full basic information and other characteristics of this creature now!

Basic Info

Dossier

Wild: Procoptodon vivencurrus is usually seen on this island. This is the biggest creature that is able to jump and it’s almost three meters in height. Procoptodon is a decent tranquil herbivore that will savagely launch attacks to the enemies if it’s provoked.

Domesticated: Due to its dry pouch, Procoptodon can become a perfect beast that is able to carry and walk longer distances. It’s even better than other animals that have the same size as it. Most of the tribes utilize it as a transporter that has two seats because it can carry another rider in the pouch. The one sitting in its pouch doesn’t have to care about how to direct it, he can concentrate on shooting his weapons.

Known Information: Pouch is one of the most outstanding characteristics of Procoptodon. Different from other marsupials that have a pouch, the pouch of Procoptodon is kind of dry and it can contain some oily fluids.

Behavior

The Procoptodon bears the resemblance to Parasaur and the survivors can catch sight of it tranquilly wandering around the location. It will escape away instantly if under attack. But different from Parasaur, Procoptodon will assault occasionally.

The Procoptodon is a kind of rare creature living on this island. If none of them are caught sight of where they are supposed to be spawning, you should start annihilating as many creatures as you notice. If the new ones come out, the Procoptodon will come out with them. You need to ensure that you already know where they will spawn. These creatures really like to gather around the bottom of mountains because they will  jump down anyway if they appear from the top. Also, they can be found on other level locations nearby the swamps. They will sometimes appear on the north-east edge of the island or on some beaches. Procoptodon won’t swallow Advanced Crops, which is very different from other herbivores. The grown-up and matured animals will become hungry if there are no berries for them.

Appearance

Procoptodon is a giant creature that is very similar to modern Kangaroos. It’s not a usual herbivore comparing to the packs of Parasaurolophus and Phiomia roaming around in the game. Sometimes, people can mistake it with a common kangaroo if it isn’t larger than a human. If you take a closer look at its appearance, you will learn that is has a shorter face, which reminds you of a rabbit.

Color Scheme and Regions

This part focuses on the natural colors and some regions of Procoptodon. Some areas below are painted in red on a white Procoptodon. The painted squares displayed below every region’s description are the colors that this creature will generate at random in order to give out a general scope of the primary color scheme. Move your mouse cursor over a color to check out the name and ID

This region info can be utilized by server admins in the Console Command, like this “cheat SetTargetDinoColor ”

For instance, using “cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6” would help paint the body magenta of Procoptodon,

Wild Stats Level-up

For learning what stats it’s stressed, just input the values of an untamed creature. The green values on a creature at a high level will be great for breeding. If you’re done taming your creature, you can regain the breeding stats using the offline tool called ARK Stats Extractor.

ARK Survival Evolved: Procoptodon

Keep in mind that the tamed creature will receive some bonuses on some stats based on the taming effectiveness. This will cause it to be very difficult to regain the levels on a tamed one, hence, this tool can be applied only for untamed ones.

Taming

ARK Survival Evolved: Procoptodon

Remember, the values are only for optimal instances, they always carry additional supplies.

You can try using an external taming calculator.

Preferred Food

The Procoptodon only swallows Rare Mushrooms, Plant Species X Seeds. You can feed it with Berries after taming it too.

A rare mushroom is equivalent to 75 food points and a Plant Species X Seed is equivalent to 50. It absorbs every 100 points of hunger

KO Strategy

The Procoptodon can be picked up and carried by a Quetzal or an Argentavis, then you can put it into a taming pen for your domestication. Alternatively, you need to ensure that you have high stamina and try to keep up with the Procoptodon when it escapes. You can use Bola to immobilize it as well!

Combat

This part will focus on how to battle against the Prcoptodon

General

Although Procoptodon is not the most powerful one, it still can make some strong damage if it decides to assault. But, this creature will normally escape away more quickly instead of standing and attacking. Be sure you can chase it at a fast pace if you want to tame one or annihilate one.

Strategy

You can pick up and carry a Procoptodon by using your Argentavis or a Quetzal. Then you can kill it easily. Also, you can use Bolas to immobilize it for around 30 seconds, which helps you knock it out more easily or domesticate it. Try to put Procoptodon in a safe pen then start taming it.

Weaponry

You should utilize a Tranquilizer Dart by utilizing a Longneck Rifle if you want to shoot them down for your taming.

Dangers

This creature is not inherently perilous, but it runs kind of fast and it doesn’t want to fight. This means that you could run into a dangerous zone while you’re chasing it down.

Weakness

It’s not hostile usually and it’s kind of close-ranged.

Utility

Roles

War Mount: With the pouch of Procoptodon, another extra tribe member can ride it! If an attack tends to be wrong, this will be useful for you to make a fast escape. Procoptodon has a high and perfect jumping ability, which can help the rider and the tribe member get into the bases and run away without breaking any walls or gates. (Level up in speed, health, and stamina)

Battle/Taming Mount: It can be utilized as a fast getaway if the battle is beyond your control. You can use it to chase down other running dinosaurs if you want to annihilate or domesticate. (Level up in stamina, health, and speed)

Transport: It possesses nice weight so it becomes a perfect transporter who can carry more than one tribe member. If other dinosaurs are being moved too, you can sit it pouch and protect them easily. (Level up in weight and stamina)

Resource Collector: Procoptodon is not good at gathering recourses except for rare mushrooms from some trees in the water location. But, with another survivor sitting in the pouch to gather resources, the rider can look around the location to make sure that there are no aggressive dinosaurs and be sure that it can escape faster without mounting up. Therefore, this is very helpful on PvP servers (level up in weight, speed, and stamina)

Notes/Trivia

The Dossier was launched on October 5, 2015

This is the initial marsupial creature in the game

Although it was claimed to be very hostile when being interrupted, it still runs away just like a Parasaur. You should remember this when you make an effort to domesticate this marsupial.

Sitting in the pouch won’t bring a better view to the passenger, his view will be limited a bit.

The passenger sitting in the pouch will obtain +169 hyperthermal and hypothermal insulation, which is kind of helpful, particularly throughout an event called ARK: Winter Wonderland

Because it doesn’t need to have a saddle when boarding the pouch, the player can command Procoptodon to follow another animal or a tribe member

In the game, this creature is able to take a leap backward, but the modern Kangaroos are not able to do this because of their hips.

The Procoptodon was a species of large kangaroo dwelling in Australia throughout the Pleistocene era. P. golia was known as the biggest kangaroo that could reach almost 3 meters tall and weigh 232 kilograms (511 pounds).

In fact, the Procoptodon in real life was kind of heavy, hence, they couldn’t jump, they strolled like hominids

Female kangaroos are the only ones that have a pouch in real life.

The full name Procoptodon vivencurrus translates to “Forward hill-toothed living chariot” which alludes to its big frontal teeth and its utilization to carry the players into a fight.
