The Castoroides (cass-tor-oy-dees) is also called a Giant Beaver and it appears in a popular survival open world game called ARK Survival Evolved. There are lots of things about this creature that you should know if you’re aiming to tame it or use it for your own sake. Check it out!

Basic Info

Wild: Castoroides is an enormous mammal creature that mostly inhabits nearby waters. Different from other big beaver kinds, Castoroides still remains the teeth of beavers that live in modern time. Most of the beavers will construct and create dams as their dwellings, but most of the bigger dinosaurs always try to crush them. Therefore, it’s kind of infrequent to search for unspoiled dams in the wild.

Domesticated: The physiology of Castoroides is a unique thing that makes the taming of this creature more valuable. The giant beaver just usually collects a lot of woods, they do that in an effective way. Although it’s not the most powerful creature on the island, it’s still a gifted lumberjack.

Known Information: Apparently, this creature doesn’t figure out that the island could be very dangerous to them. Or maybe it’s too stupid to realize that? The creatures feel so free to wander around the island in the day time. It always has fun playing in the water or biting wood.

The untamed Castoroides will use a bunch of wood, cementing paste, rare flower, rare mushroom as well as Silica Pearls to construct the dams. They are so defensive and always safeguard their dams. If any person is trying to threaten them, they will protect their dams at all costs. Around three beavers are usually seen around a dam location. You can check out Giant Beaver Dam for more locations. They’re not going to fill the dams again, so when releasing all items or looting that the dame is demolished, some brand new stuff are able to generate later.

The Giant Beavers won’t launch their attacks to any things unless they are provoked. Normally, these creatures have to protect their own realm and battle against some Dilophosaurs that are roaming around, and some Titanoboas that are trespassing. They can even team up with each other to battle against bigger creatures like Carnos or some tiny predators, such as Raptors or Terror birds. If one is assaulted, the rest of other beavers will instantly attack that enemy. If a survivor is able to use a strong mount to hit a Beaver, the other Beavers won’t attack.

This is a large kind of beaver that you will usually see in the rivers or some ponds of the inside of the island. Sometimes, it turns up at the Hidden Lake too. Its fur is water resistance and it can swim well due to the flat tail. They even have strong jaws and pointed incisors which help them chew through a bunch of trees on the island. Then they use the amount of wood that they have collected as well as other raw substances to build their dams.

Color Scheme and Regions

In this part, you will find out the gifted colors and regions of Castoroides. There are some regions below that are painted in red on a white Castoroides. The painted squares displayed below every region’s description are the colors that this creature will generate at random to give out a general scope of its gifted color scheme. To see the name and ID, just move the mouse cursor on a color.

This region info can be utilized by the server admins in the Console Command “cheat SetTargetDinoColor ”

For instance, utilizing “cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6” would help paint the body magenta of Castoroides.

Wild Stats Level-up

Input the values of an untamed dinosaur to check out the stats that it’s stressed. The green values on a high-level one will indicate that it’s great for breeding. If you’re done taming your creature, you can regain the breeding stats by utilizing a tool called ARK Stats Extractor.

Remember that the tamed creature will receive bonuses on several stats basing on the taming success after being domesticated. This will make it so difficult to take back the levels on a tamed one. Hence, this tool can be only applied to the untamed ones.

Remember that the values are only for optimum instances, they always carry additional supplies.

Don’t forget to check out an external taming calculator.

KO Strategy

Taking down the beavers is not difficult, you just only utilize 9 tranquilizer darts to knock out a beaver at level 75. If it’s chasing you, just use the darts to take it down. You can even place it in a tiny taming pen if you want. You should also bring plenty of narcotics because the torpor of the beavers is not high.

In this part, you will find out how to battle against the Castoroides.

Giant Beavers are so difficult and dangerous to cope with when you’re encountering it in the water or on the ground. They are extremely quick and they can deal out a bunch of damage. So, you must stay watchful for them all the time.

You can defeat the Castoroides if you don’t go in the water. Their torpor is high, so you must bring a large amount of narcotics. Step backs to dodge some damage, but stay aware because they will finally catch you. Just make sure that you won’t stay in the water with a furious Giant Beaver no matter what, or you will be killed in just a bit. You can utilize bolas to deal with it, assault from lots of sides or use the melee.

You should utilize ranged weapons or melee weapons to destroy the giant beaver, but that’s up to the current distance. They are so defenseless to Bolas, so make sure you use them to kill the giant beavers.

Giant Beavers are so quick and they can destroy a Megalodon directly. When they are under attack, or when their shelter is spoiled, they will become very hostile. So, you must be careful if you want to plunder their dens.

When you don’t mount the beaver, it will stay afloat on the surface unless they are going behind you. They are not good at climbing.

Gatherer: Castoroides is very good at collecting wood, so this creature is a perfect gatherer you should have! If they are not equipped with a saddle, you should set them to roam around a wooded zone and let them show their wood-collecting skill. Or, you can whistle it and make it follow you to a certain tree. If you want to stop it, you just whistle again. This creature is able to chop down a tree and pick up a bunch of wood. (Level up in Weight and Melee Damage)

Transport: if Castoroides carry Wood, Thatch, Fiber and Stone, they won’t weigh much! The weight of Wood, Thatch and Fiber is only 20% of their common value, but the weight of Stone is up to 50% of its common value. (level up in Weight, Stamina)

Organic Craftsman: After being saddles, the Castoroides can be utilized as a Smithy, which enables a moving crafting wagon. The crafting speed of Castoroides can be developed by feeding it with Focal Chili. (Level up in Weight)

Fighting: It can become a great combat mount because it has up to 45 base damage, which is stronger than a Dire Wolf or a Carno (Level up in Melee, Health and Stamina)

Diver in the deep sea: The Castoroides can totally dive in the deep sea because it has nice oxygen stat, and it can totally swim fast if the oxygen stat is leveled up. It is much powerful than a dire wolf, so it can protect itself against the cruel Megalodons. You shouldn’t let it battle against other aquatic creatures unless it’s equipped with a nice saddle. Because it’s considered as a moving smithy, it can enter deep underwater caves because they have plenty of materials for the stuff formed in smithy. But if you dismount them, they will stay afloat, unless they are going behind you. (Level up in Oxygen, Weight and Melee)

Castoroides will go collect wood spontaneously if they are roaming around, or they are not forced to do something, especially when there is a tree that is in the area of it.

The dossier was first launched on 06/20/2015 by Jat

It was so easy to hunt and chase Castoroides to pick up Pelt outside the tundra prior to launching the Direbear and the Redwood Forests that have Megaloceros. You should remember that they are so infrequent.

The incisors of Castoroides were wider and thicker than the present beavers in real life.

Argentavis or Quetzal can totally pick a Casteroides up

Although it has oxygen features, it never goes dry when it’s underwater. Therefore, the beavers can’t drown.
