Basic Info

Dossier

Wild: The species name of this creature is Canis Maxdirus and it’s known as a scary one. It lives in a big pack and always goes hunting or chasing down the prey of any size. It is a dangerous hunter that you should stay watchful for when you’re close to it. It has a small size just like a horse, and it can even pose a threat to the biggest predators if it’s with other members in the packs.

Domesticated: Canis can be viewed as a perfect mount for combat because of its quickness, strength and intelligent. Just similar to the combat cats, this creature is also good at jumping.

Known Information: Canis can work with other teammates, and together, they are powerful packs! Different from other creatures, Dire Wolf can be considered as a devoted pack hunter because it seldom goes hunting alone. It will normally team up with others in the packs to go hunting. The one who is most experienced will be known as the Alpha which has a powerful improvement.

Behavior

Canis always lives in big packs! When you catch sight of only one dire wolf, you should survey the whole location to be aware of the rest of its group. Doing so will prevent you from becoming their prey and protect yourself too. As aggressive pack hunters, these dire wolves will willingly assault anything when they see. So you must stay alert to them all the time. But once you have tamed them, they will become your faithful mounts.

Appearance

The predecessor of the modern wolf is Dire Wolf. It can fit risky environments and deadly surroundings in the game. It has a very big size, with two basic colors, including gray and black on its body. It’s a muscular creature too.

Wild Stats Level-up

Enter any values of an untamed creature so that you can find out the stressed stats. The ones that have green values will be great for breeding. You can take back the breeding stats of a tamed creature by using the tool called ARK Stats Extractor.

Dire Wolf

Keep in mind that the tamed creatures will receive some bonuses on their stats after being domesticated, which counts on the success of taming. You will find it difficult to take back the levels on a domesticated creature. Therefore, this tool is only good for untamed ones.

Remember that the values are just for optimum instances, and they always carry additional supplies.

You can try checking out external taming calculator.

Ingredients for Kibble (Carno Egg): 1 × Carno Egg , 1 × Savoroot , 1 × Cooked Meat , 2 × Mejoberry , 3 × Fiber , 1 × Water

KO Strategy

Argentavis can carry Dire Wolf, which sets it apart from the whole group, then you can place it in a box that has windows. After that, you can knock it out by firing arrows through the box. Normally, you only have to use 4-12 tranq arrows for the low levels. But, you should stay alert to the wolf because sometimes, it is able to attack the bird and destroy the rider. If the angle and distance are not safe for the bird yet, you should release the wolf for a bit, then carry it again. You can make it unable to assault Argentavis by striking it once while the bird is carrying it.

You can try using Bola to keep it unconscious, then try to use tranquilizer arrows to knock it out.

Alpha Boost

The Alpha boost is not available in the game, for now, however, you can still wait for the organized function in the forthcoming time.

Some believed that the Alpha would usually strengthen the rest ones in the whole pack. If the Alpha is knocked out, the pack will become weaker.

Combat

You will find out some tips and ways to battle against the Direwolf in this section.

General

Dire Wolf will never go alone around, so you won’t get a chance to find it. If you’re ready for a fight against them, you need to try to kill the entire pack prior to turning back. It’s kind of usual to catch sight of some packs of 5-6 members in the snow-covered plains.

Strategy

You should try to stay away from the pack once you see it. Also, you must prepare a longneck rifle to shoot some Dire Wolves that have a lower level. You can use a pike in case you have no ammo left. The ranged weapons will help you kill the whole pack easily. Or if you have an Argentavis, you can use it to pick off one wolf and try to destroy it while you’re flying above to dodge the pack.

Weaponry

You can totally take down the whole pack by just using the ranged weapons because they are so useful in helping you fight against the dire wolves. Due to the characteristic of snow biome, which is very barren, you should try to attack the pack from a distance as long as you have some nice tools.

Dangers

The Dire Wolf always comes with its pack, or with one another Dire Wolf. It’s never alone! These creatures are extremely fast when running on land. If they catch you off guard, try to run or stay away from them, especially don’t let them overrun you.

Weakness

While in water, Dire Wolves have the same moving pattern as molasses. The way it moves can give you a chance to shoot it from a distance because the snow biome is filled with sheets of floating ice. You can take down the wolves by utilizing a rifle before they are closer to you. Dire Wolves don’t have enough power to knockback some strong and heavy tamed dinosaurs, like Spinosaur for instance. If you assault them in a proper way, you can defeat them easily.

Roles

Battle Mount: Dire Wolf can be used as a battle mount and you no need to put a saddle on it. They can deal high damage, you should try to let a male and female go with together for their survival (Level up in health and damage)

Travel Mount: They have fair speed and some stamina. A Dire Wolf can be utilized for searching, which is very secure. (Level up in Speed, Stamina, and Weight)

Companion: Dire Wolf can be your companion and travel with you. A wolf will become your pet, and willing follow you ever where. You can let them sleep with you too at night when you’re far away from your tribe. (Level up in Health and Weight).
